In the heart of the Cheverny appellation, in the village of Cellettes, the Villemade family cultivates their vines naturally. In 1995, Hervé took over the family estate that was in founded in 1939 by his grandfather Désiré. Against all odds, he firmly believed in the quality of wines produced through precise organic work on the soil, the vine, and the fruit. The estate underwent a complete shift: herbicides and chemical products were banned. In the cellar, the wines are pressed and aged without additives; only a minimal dose of sulfur is used at bottling to ensure proper conservation. Under Hervé Villemade’s leadership, the estate has established itself as a leading figure in natural winemaking, allowing aromatic grape varieties such as Romorantin to express themselves without excess—showcasing pure fruitiness and indulgence instead. Today, Hervé and his team strive simply to make honest, enjoyable wines at reasonable prices, as they have been doing for over 25 years, without pretention and without lecturing anyone on how things should be done.
